Dissemination of information on first aid, teenage pregnancy, HIV/AIDS and encouraging behavior change among youth were outlined as the Lesotho Red Cross achievements in the last year. This was said by the Youth and volunteer officer Mr Beibi Rakolobe at the organisation’s 2014 youth annual general meeting in Quthing yesterday .
A the occasion for the first time, according to Ms Keneuoe Loape, the organization presented a three year strategic plan as a working document for the national youth executive committee.
“We have to work hard and make sure that all plans are put into action. We have been faced with major challenges but with everyone’s support we can make it,” said Loape.
The event was also addressed by Mrs ‘Mabasia Lepota on behalf of Quthing District Administrator who among others pressed that the participants should count themselves lucky for being part of the society, noting that the platform provided youth opportunity to be heard.
“Some of us grew up in difficult times where we had to figure everything for ourselves,” said Lepota.
This year’s delegation is made up of five representatives from each district of Lesotho. They also paid tribute to the late President of the Lesotho Red Cross Society Chief Sekhobe Letsie and the Maseru chairperson Alex Lephole who both passed on earlier this year.
